Craig Faulkner Head Coach

Craig Faulkner is the Head Coach of Venice High Baseball.  A former catcher/first baseman, Faulkner spent nine years in professional baseball while making five all star teams with the Baltimore Orioles, Milwaukee Brewers, and St. Louis Cardinals organizations. He also coached at the professional level (AA Ball) in the Orioles' system.

Faulkner played collegiately at LSU for the great Skip Bertman. He participated in two College World Series for the Tigers and served as the team captain in 1987. Craig graduated from LSU in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science degree.

Faulkner has coached for 22 seasons at his alma mater, Venice High School. The Indians have won numerous district and regional titles, and have reached the FHSAA Final Four on eight different occasions during his tenure. Venice won the Florida State Championship in 2007, 2012, 2013, 2015 and again last year in 2018 under Coach Faulkner's watch. He was awarded with the Florida High School Coach of the Year twice and SE Regional Coach of the Year in 2013. He was also the runner-up for national coach-of-the-year in 2013. 

Coach Faulkner was recently elected into the FHSAA Hall of Fame in 2018 becoming the 199th person in the history of the FHSAA to be awarded that honor.

Craig has also served as a scout/evaluator for USA Baseball for the NTIS.

Faulkner's teams are actively involved in local charities such as Challenger Baseball, Habitat for Humanity, Reading Mentors, and provide assistance to local nursing homes. Craig serves on the Board of Directors for Agape Flights.

Craig lives in Venice with his wife and three children.
